OK, now normally, while I’m a Star Wars geek, I don’t tend to reblog a ton of SW stuff. This, though… this just had me drooling over all the craftsmanship. Brilliantly done.

It cuts. Not like in the movies. It’s contained in glass instead of plasma or magnetic containment. Neat first generation prototype. Fragile and requires everyone to wear special glasses to avoid blindness.

You know if I’m reblogging Star Wars, it’s got to be something really fucking cool.

Astronomers at the European Southern Observatory’s Paranal Observatory in Chile have released a breathtaking new photograph showing the central area of our Milky Way galaxy. The photograph shows a whopping 84 million stars in an image measuring 108500×81500, which contains nearly 9 billion pixels.

It’s actually a composite of thousands of individual photographs shot with the observatory’s VISTA survey telescope, the same camera that captured the amazing 55-hour exposure. Three different infrared filters were used to capture the different details present in the final image.

The VISTA’s camera is sensitive to infrared light, which allows its vision to pierce through much of the space dust that blocks the view of ordinary optical telescope/camera systems.

I will ALWAYS post this and repost it endlessly. Every animal is the direct result of how it was raised and this is especially true to Pitbulls. I understand some people do not like the specific breed because of the fact that it has a locking jaw and they are scared, and I understand that. I recently had a conversation with a woman who told me “Why support a dog that if it bites me, I don’t even have a fighting chance.” This same woman agreed that she believes pits are only bad how they are raised. How does that make sense? A good pit isn’t going to lock it’s jaw on you, in fact it might even save your life. I’ll leave this with I SUPPORT the Pits, do you?

Have you ever seen the sky? It’s beautiful. A billion souls walk under it every single day and don’t even bother to look up and wonder what’s out there. There’s so much we still haven’t learned, so much that the scientists won’t even figure out in your life time and its your job to wonder, to dream, to try and find the mysteries behind all that lies in your path. Next time you’re outside in the middle of the night, look up. Wonder what’s out there.
